Melody Mao is a first-year PhD student in the Bioinformatics Interdepartmental Program, rotating with Dr. Yosuke Tanigawa in Fall 2026. Her undergraduate research focused on integrating systems biology approaches to investigate the genetic mechanisms underlying complex diseases. She earned her B.S. in Computational and Systems Biology from UCLA with a minor in Statistics and Data Science. Outside the lab, she enjoys going to pilates and yoga classes, cooking, reading, and exploring Los Angeles.
